CLASS TITLE: Director of Innovation and Alternative Programs CLASS CODE: 0120
REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer/Asst. Superintendent EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide leadership and coordination for the District’s Innovation and Alternative Programs and intervention/enrichment initiatives. This position drives research-based strategies to improve student outcomes, supports school improvement efforts, and manages special academic projects that align with the district’s mission and vision.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Oversee all District Alternative Education Programs (Home Hospital, Online, Day Treatment)
- Support TSI/CSI schools through flexible, innovative service models and school improvement monitoring
- Coordinate special projects and grant-funded initiatives within the Academic Office
- Collaborate with school leaders, community partners, and agencies to integrate services and support student success
- Submit required reports to district and state agencies
- Maintain ethical standards and safeguard student/family privacy
- Administer grants and ensure effective use of district facilities
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, appropriate appearance, and consistent, reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of alternative education models, summer programs, and school improvement strategies
- Ability to evaluate program effectiveness, analyze data, and make informed decisions
- Familiarity with educational trends, policies, and innovative instructional practices
- Requires speech, vision, and hearing capabilities
- Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
- Stand & move for extended periods; lift, push, pull, carry, etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel, crouch, sit, etc.
- Use technology, including computers, interactive whiteboards, audio-visual equipment, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree Required
- Kentucky Teacher Certification
- Kentucky Principalship Certification
- Minimum of three years of experience in school-level leadership preferred
