TITLE:  General Education Paraprofessional   

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 2025-2025 school year (anticipated 08/25/2025); salary per collective bargaining agreement, and commensurate with experience; (range $21.20-$22.50 hour, $28,468.11-$30,211.05/annualized)

LOCATION:  Elmwood Elementary School, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

It is the primary responsibility of all Paraprofessionals to provide social-emotional, behavioral, and instructional support and interventions to all students in all settings. Under 

the general direction of the Teacher, the General Education Paraprofessional will provide classroom and student support by various means, dependent upon the needs of the students.  The Paraprofessional adapts to the changing needs of the classroom and/or direction of the classroom teacher.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered qualified for the position, candidates must have/be:

  1. Associate's Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro exam;
  2. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults;
  3. Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education in a related field, while not required, considered a plus;
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

 

DUTIES:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Provides overall support to the classroom teacher and students, based on the needs of the students and the classroom;
  2. Assists classroom teacher in preparing for lessons and related materials;
  3. Incorporates knowledge of student learning styles and child development to assist student learning;
  4. Recognizes when teaching and learning strategies are not successful and seeks the guidance of the classroom teacher to adapt assistance accordingly;
  5. Provides verbal support, prompting, redirection and modeling in helping the student(s) access the activities of the curriculum;
  6. Other duties, as required.
