POSITION:     Diesel Technology Instructor

 

REPORTS TO: Site Administrator/Supervisor

 

LOCATION:    Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center

                                   

NATURE OF WORK:

This is a professional position to meet the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional programs effectively to ensure student achievement. The course focus includes products utilized in heating and air conditioning and sheet metal fabrication industries.  The instructor will work with a Program Advisory Board to stay current in the industry.  Welding and other related skills are also an expectation of the program.  The instructor will also be required to perform all necessary teaching duties and meet all requirements.

 

SALARY:         The salary for this EXEMPT position will be based on EASMC Teacher Career Ladder for 10-month employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, conduct and assess instructional activities - The Medium/Heavy Truck Technician program combines technical, academic and workplace skills in an integrated curriculum in accordance with all National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) guidance and directives.  The program consists of the following courses: Diesel Engineering, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, and Preventive Maintenance. 
  • Prepare materials needed for instruction, labs, testing, supplies;
  • Relate instruction and material to course competencies;
  • Discuss and demonstrate workplace safety, personal safety and power/hand tool safety;
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with students, other faculty and staff;
  • Submit grades, attendance, reports and records in a timely manner;
  • Utilize Schoology (online learning platform) to facilitate course;
  • Form and meet regularly with the Program Advisory Committee;
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

One of the following Pathways:

  1. Occupational Experience
  • Three (3) years of occupational experience 
    • The applicant may substitute the following for one (1) year of occupational experience:
      • Department-accepted, current industry recognized credential* and/or
      • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in the area to be taught
  • Willing to complete twelve (12) credits of professional education coursework from an institution of higher education or through Department-approved continuing professional development credits
  1. Educator Preparation Program
  • Completion of a Maryland or Out-of-State program approved to lead to professional and technical education licensure
  1. Professional License/Certificate in a Professional and Technical Education Area
  • Valid or expired License/Certificate from Maryland, another state, or foreign country
  • Valid National Board Certificate in Career and Technical Education

* Department-accepted, current industry recognized credentials can be found in the Maryland CTE    Blue Book

 

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time ten-month position

 

SALARY GRADE RANGE: The salary for this EXEMPT position will be based on EASMC Teacher Career Ladder for 10-month employees.
