Job Description

 

The Project GLAD Instructional Specialist will support the growth of the Project GLAD approach with the delivery of Project GLAD Foundations Training (2-day Research and Theory Workshop and 4-day Classroom Demonstration) and will focus on supporting ACPS schools and other school systems with follow-up professional development opportunities for Project GLAD implementation. Primary responsibilities associated with this position will be to support the growth of the Project GLAD approach and tasks associated with the development of ongoing tailored follow-up with schools that want to continue the work of refining Project GLAD in ACPS and the Regional Training Center. This position will report to the Project GLAD Specialist/Coordinator in the Office of English Learner Services. This is a 12-month, 240 day position.

Qualifications

 

Evidence of Project GLAD expertise, routine use of Project GLAD strategies, and dynamic presentation and facilitation skills are required.

 

  Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree in Education.

 

  Certificates and License: A valid Virginia Department of Education license is required, or eligibility to obtain one; EL Certification preferred.

 

  Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, EL preferred
  • K-12 teacher, coach, teacher leader (licensed staff member)
  • ACPS Project GLAD® Agency Trainer (Tier III Trainer)
  • Project GLAD® Certifier Preferred (Trainer of Trainers)
  • Knowledge and regular use of the Google Suite and CANVAS tools

 

Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with the  Project GLAD Specialist to plan for, prepare for, and deliver Foundations Training and Certifications (trainer of trainers)
  • Develop follow-up learning experiences with schools to encourage implementation, including professional development, Professional Learning Community (PLC) work, modeling, and developing systems of support
  • Support in the development of the OCDE Project GLAD® Regional Training Center

Clearances:

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

  Public Health Compliance

  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
