Job Overview

The Head Start Family and Community Partnership Assistant - Bilingual is responsible for assisting the Family and Community Partnership Coordinator in providing services for children and families from diverse backgrounds enrolled and enrolling in the Head Start Program. This position requires an ability to keep accurate records and to communicate responsibly and respectfully with families, school system employees and community partners in English and Spanish.


Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Act as primary telephone, email and in-person contact for families who speak Spanish
  • Provide interpretation services at: Policy Council meetings, Family Connection Classes, Home Visits, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Orientations, Family Literacy Nights (Book Parties), Child Study Meetings and Enrollment Conferences
  • Provide application support by phone or in-person (enrollment/general information)
  • Complete Income Details follow-up by phone or in-person
  • Provide transportation support for classroom staff and families of enrolled students
  • Translate documents, forms and newsletters for Head Start office and classroom staff
  • Conduct Child Screenings/Assessments in the classroom for children who speak Spanish as a primary language
  • Assist the Family and Community Partnership Coordinator with projects as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 

  • High School diploma and general office experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and English orally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and data management systems (ChildPlus Data Management System preferred)
  • Good organizational, human relations and communication skills

Salary Range: $24.40 - $25.94
