Job Discription
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with all facets of the daily operations of the Athletic Training Room & Sports Medicine Program, including coverage for middle and high school teams in 20 plus sports throughout the school year for approximately 40—50 hours per week. Responsible for all aspects of health care for student-athletes including, injury prevention, recognition, treatment, evaluation, referral of injuries, rehabilitation, return to play evaluation, education, injury counseling, and documentation. Hours each day will vary based on practice vs game coverage and will differ each season.
Assistant Athletic Trainer will be expected to arrive at Alexandria City High School by 3:00 p.m. each work day to help in the athletic training room with taping, injury evaluations/follow ups, treatments and rehab. Practice coverage, game coverage, and days off will vary depending on your position/pay. Occasional Saturdays and travel with football should be expected. A dependable vehicle is required due to off-site fields within the city which are considered “home” for practices and games.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
Certificates & Licenses: Licensed through the Virginia Board of Medicine. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification. Valid Driver’s License. CPR/AED Certification.
Experience: Job related experience as an athletic trainer is required. High school setting is preferred.
